- Her fourth arrow kind is thinner than all the others, with its decreased size it cuts through the air much easier. It allows this arrow to fly much farther, and faster than the others. Personality: Cather is quite a loner. She prefers her own company to anyone else’s, though she spends most of her time watching others from a distance. She is quite and speaks very little. For she does not enjoy contact with most beasts. Be them humans or Werebeasts. She can also be very touchy and rude to those she does not care about, so that’s everyone.
History: Cather was born on a normal day in the spring. Her mother and father married young and had a kid very yearly in their marriage. Many thought this was a bad chose for it was better to make a family when you could provide for them, but her parents couldn’t wait. Her birth was a large event within their group, so of course there was a large feast. Full of wine, meats, fruit and bread. Everyone came, her families friends, neighbors and even her uncle. Her uncle was known for being odd, many didn’t know him for he wasn’t very open to anyone accept her parents for they were family.
The feast went on for two whole days, filled with laughter and songs. But the festive joy did not last. For at the end of the second day of the feast, other beasts came to join the party. They had been watching eagerly from the outskirts of town waiting for the right moment to attack. The blood and death that followed their entry covered the grounds. Cather had been in her uncles arms when the Werebeasts started their slaughter. Her uncle tried to help but when he noticed the amount of beasts he knew that if he tarried long he and Cather would be dead. So he ran, leaving his family and friends to be torn apart.
The next few years passed quickly, for she was very young and time was still new to her. As she got older her uncle, Vikus, began to teach her skills that she would need to survive. From him Cather learned that most people meant harm and danger, and that it was best to watch from a distance. It was better to see and not be seen. She learned how to blend in with her surroundings, to walk quietly in the forest and in the meadows that surrounded the woods. For with the right technique one could walk and run silently through the tall grass, or the thick woods.
When she was ten years of age Vikus gave her, her first weapon. Now she had been using just a small knife for years, but what he gave her that day was not a knife. It was a bow, one that Vikus had spent the last few weeks working on. It was made of a young spruce trees lower limbs. For being as young as she was she didn’t need a great bow, yet. The arrows were made of the same tree. Cather never set it down, from the moment she awoke she was practicing till she went to bed, only to wake and start all over again. Soon she was the one getting the meat for the day, then the week. When she got too big for her bow Vikus helped her make herself a new one. Bigger than the last one, this one was made of a very old oak tree. The bow was much stronger and harder to use but that didn’t stop her.
As the years past she kept up her frantic bow mans ship everyday. Cather went through many bows as she grew up into a young adult. Till she reached her eighteenth birthday, that day Vikus gave her a master piece of a bow. It was made of lots of woods, combined to create a powerful weapon of death. It was a mixture of Bamboo, Hickory, Osage, Ipe, Yew and Black walnut. The Bamboo gives the bow flexibility and makes the bow very smooth in its draw. Also it make the bow very quite when it releases the arrow. The Hickory is very strong in tinsel strength, it makes the bow very hard to break, meaning the bow will last basically forever, if it is taken good care of. The Osage, when found not with knots, gives the bow even more strength for it is very strong with compression strength. The Ipe, which was used to surround all the other woods, is very resistant to decay, it also works very great with Bamboo. The Yew is one of the only woods which can hold the D ( Some say C ) shape which makes the bow have even more strength. And lastly the Black walnut is a good fiber glass material and it also emits a very strong woody odor. The bow took years to make, where her uncle got the materials or time to make this great bow Cather never knew, but she didn’t care for the bow was perfect. She again used this bow every day, though at night she took the string off and kept it in a case which would keep it moist.
Then again her world was torn away from her. Her uncle came back to their hut one day very sick. Cather at first thought it was just a cold or a case of the flue, but he didn’t get better. In fact he got worse. His tongue started to turn purple and his eyes started to get all yellow. This scared her, for she had never seen anything like it before. So she ran to the nearest village to seek the healer. When she described the sickness the healer sadly gave her the new that her uncle had a very deadly sickness. The healer even said that some people in the village came down with the same symptoms but they couldn’t be cured. The people lasted afew weeks but died, there was nothing they could do, but put them out of their misery. Cather, after hearing the horrid news, ran all the way back to the hut. She burst into the room to find her uncle even worse. His tongue was unrecognizable and his eyes were almost all yellow. She told him what the healer had said, and he told her to do what she thought was best. Cather thought about it for hours, thinking if it was better to kill him now? Or spend the most time she could with him? After pacing around the hut for what seemed forever, she decided to not kill him for she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Cather then walked back inside to tell him, when she noticed he was even worse. His fever was out of control, he was having muscle fits and was coughing uncontrollably. Knowing now that it needed to be done, she grabbed her uncles skinning knife and walked over to his bed. Lifted the knife and gazed into his eyes, what she saw made her eyes start to water. Her uncles eyes showed no hate, but love. From his eyes she could almost see that he was agreeing with her dissection. She then closed her own eyes and brought the knife down on his chest, right where the heart is. Her uncles breathing slowed till there was no breathing at all.
She buried his body next to the hut and marked it. She then took what she would need from the hut, her bow, knifes and some cloaks, and a backpack. Then she set fire to the hut. The fire raged around the dry wooden building till there was only ashes. When she said her final goodbye to his grave she turned her back to the pile of ash and walked away.
Strengths:
- She is keen and very calculative.
- She is very observant.
- She has learned to be quite in any terrain.
- She can almost always win a 1v1, ( If she shoots first. )
- Since she trusts no one she is hard to take by surprise.
Cather is very skilled with a bow. She has been using one since she was a small child making her aim very impeccable. Along with her bow skills she has aquired the skills of traveling without sound. She has developed a technique in her walking and running, that makes her foot falls silent. Over the years she also has become very observant and can notice many things other people would over look. Cather, with her many cloaks, can blend in with most of her surroundings. To some she can disappear, but all she is doing is using the shadows to hid her movements.
Weakness:
- She travels alone, making a nice target.
- She trusts no one, meaning she has no one at her back. Looking out for her.
- She can get overwhelmed if caught off guard.
- She can be ruthless making it hard to trust her.
- With her style of dress and attitude many people stay clear of her, even if she needed help.
Cather travels alone, making her an easy target to large groups. Her untrusting nature can put her in hard places with other beings. Most of the time she only care for herself so caring, and love is not her strong suite. This causes her to not be any easy person to be around.
